Join our Ocean Discovery Rangers on Tuesday & Friday mornings, and discover your love for the Ocean through the eyes of your toddler!

Our sessions are aimed at your Ocean Todds between 2 and 4 years old, and their guardians, and take place every Tuesday and Friday between 10:30am and 11:30am, in our Waves Café!

With adventures around the Aquarium, crafts, songs and stories, our Toddler sessions are the perfect way to immerse your little ones in the magic that the Ocean has to offer.

2024 Lesson Plans! Please note that Tuesday and Friday sessions have the same content

16/04/24 Earth Day

Welcome back to Todds! This week we’re learning about Earth Day, a day where everyone comes together to celebrate everything the Earth provides for us and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting it. We’ll be heading outside for a nature scavenger hunt to see what natural treasures we can find!

23/04/24 Weever Fish

This week we’re learning about some animals who are very good at hiding- the weever fish! You might know these fish as the ones who sting your feet if you don’t wear shoes in the water. After learning all about them, we’re going to ‘weave-a-fish’ of our own!

30/04/24 Black Tip Reef Sharks

This week at Todds we’re focusing on Black Tip Reef Sharks, a smaller species of shark found in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll be learning about what food they eat, and then making a game to demonstrate this!

Ocean Todds in the Wild

Ocean Todds is heading into the wild!

Join us from 11am-1pm on Saturday 6th April at Wembury Beach to discover more about the incredible creatures living on our coastline. We’ll venture around the rocky shore and use science and storytelling to understand more about our local wildlife and the habitats found at our beaches.

We’ll also be taking part in an Easter ‘Eggcase’ Hunt as we go, and submitting what we find to the Shark Trust’s Great Eggcase Hunt!

Meet at the bottom of the ramp, opposite the Wembury Cafe, where our friendly Ocean Discovery Rangers will be ready to meet you. This event will include walking on the Coast Path which can be muddy, so please wear appropriate footwear!

Ocean Todds Development Goals

The Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage says that “Good parenting and high-quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.”

Within this Framework are 17 ‘Early Learning Goals’, designed to define the level of development children should have attained by the end of Foundation.

We have our own set of 11 Todds Goals, which are simplified versions of those set out in the Statutory Framework. Each Ocean Todds session is planned with these goals in mind and is intended to help support your child’s development in several of these areas.
