School is officially out for summer, and with the summer holidays finally here, the National Marine Aquarium is excited to invite you to explore the giant wonders of our Ocean!
There will be activities happening right across the Aquarium throughout the summer, with a fun-packed trail around the building taking you on a journey of discovery where you’ll dive head first into the world of Ocean Giants, past and present.
Not only that, but you’ll also have a chance to create your very own fossil pendant in our salt dough crafting sessions, or learn how to fold your very own origami whale!
The star of the show this summer – apart from our 4,000 amazing Ocean animals, of course – is our giant Humpback Whale tail, which has taken pride of place in our Eddystone area and is waiting to impress! Created by a local Devon artist from recycled plastic bottles, this incredible installation is designed to help raise awareness of plastic pollution in our Ocean. It’s only going to be with us for the holidays though, so be sure to come and see it while you have the chance.
If that doesn’t sound like enough summer fun already, we’ll also have a variety of artefacts for you to discover right across the Aquarium – so from shark jaws to a whale’s rib, come and see what you can learn from these enormous and fascinating creatures.
Our Hosts will be presenting our exclusive Ocean Giants Show daily – so make sure to grab your seat in our Eddystone Reef exhibit at 12pm each day, when you can find out everything from the true bite force of a Megalodon shark, to the truth about how much a Blue Whale really eats every day, and discover the planet’s largest living organism.
Ocean Giants: Past and Present will be running everyday from Saturday 27th July to Sunday 2nd September. We can’t wait to see you here!
