School On The Beach

There’s nothing finer than a day on the beach, and our Schools Officers are the perfect people to help your students get the most out of the experience. From rockpooling to beach cleaning and Oceanic art, there’s something for everyone on the beach!

“Having an educational expert from the NMA at the beach with us really made our day. The pupils came away knowing so much about the rockpool creatures they found and keen to find out more” Ms Hidson, KS2 teacher

WORKSHOP OPTIONS

We are able to offer a choice of different workshops to suit your learning objectives. See below for further information about the current options.

Rockpooling There are literally hundreds of species of plants and animals to be found in the rockpool habitat for those who know where to look! Our Schools Officers will be on hand to give hints and tips, help with the search, and support students as they identify species and learn all about their findings.

Beach Clean & Oceanic Art – It’s amazing what you can find on the beach. In this session, we’ll provide all the tools, training, and safety equipment needed to collect damaging Ocean plastics whilst getting creative with some Oceanic art.

Plastic Seas – Through investigating the stomach contents of an Ocean creature, students will find out what we can do to help care for the Ocean. This original OCT plastic pollution experience is an ideal blend of curriculum and conservation-based learning.
