First careers fair for students with learning disabilities in Plymouth
The National Marine Aquarium and Quay Partnership will be hosting a careers fair for students with complex needs. Students from special schools across the city will meet more than 25 employers from organisations recruit local students.
The Quay Partnership Careers Fair will provide opportunities for young people with special educational needs and disabilities to be inspired about their future career pathways and showcase the future education, training and employment opportunities available to them across the city.
The Quay Partnership Careers Fair will take place on Tuesday 29th January from 9.30am – 3.30pm in the NMA’s Learning Centre – a dedicated space for the delivery of its Schools Programme activities. The fair will showcase opportunities from employers, colleges and training provisions, who will be delivering engaging, interactive and hands-on activities throughout the day.
The event has been organised by Mount Tamar School – one of the five special schools in the Quay Partnership, Plymouth, which aims to transform the education and pathways to adulthood for young people with special education needs in the city. The other school partners include Mill Ford School, Brook Green Centre for Learning, Longcause Community Special School and Woodlands School.
Staff and students from all five Quay Partnership Schools will be attending, in addition to pupils with special education needs from mainstream schools in Plymouth. Pupils from Mount Tamar School will also act as ambassadors for the fair, assisting with handing out resources to visitors and escorting them around the NMA.
