National Marine Park Open Weekend – Important Information
To celebrate the first ever National Marine Park here in Plymouth Sound, the official launch of the programme will start with an Aquarium Open Weekend – an exclusive free event for Plymouth residents at the National Marine Aquarium taking place 1 to 3 April.
The Aquarium is opening on Friday 1st April, Saturday 2nd April and Sunday 3rd April 2022 completely free of charge, allowing the people of Plymouth to connect, learn more and have their say about the National Marine Park happening on their doorstep.
Registration is now closed. Only those who managed to get tickets will be able to visit.
Please note, this event is only for those living in PL1 to PL9 and/or are Plymouth City Council residents.
If you have a ticket you will need to show your booking confirmation email at the front desk to be allowed entry. All members of your group need to arrive at the same time.
Can I visit without a ticket?
If you didn’t manage to get a ticket unfortunately you are unable to visit us this weekend.
How long can I stay in the Aquarium?
To allow as many people as possible to visit across the weekend you’ll have a three hour time slot to visit us and explore our Aquarium.
What if I’ve already got an annual pass?
As this is a private event for the National Marine Park, if you’ve got a year pass already you won’t be able to use your pass on this weekend. But we’d love to welcome you back with your free ticket any other day outside of this open weekend.
Will food and drink be available?
We’ll have food and drink available in our cafes around the Aquarium and you’re more then welcome to use our garden picnic area for your own packed lunches.
Will there be disabled access?
The National Marine Aquarium is committed to providing Access for All and is accessible by ramps and lifts throughout. There are a number of disabled parking bays on site, as well as drop-off points for minibuses and coaches. We also have a limited number of wheelchairs available on site, free of charge and on a first come, first served basis.
Are dogs welcome?
Due to our zoo license, we do not allow dogs in the Aquarium unless they are guide dogs.
Can I change the time or day of my ticket?
You can only visit us for the time and date you booked for, if you visit any time outside of this your ticket is not valid.
What’s the weekend about?
The open weekend is all about celebrating the National Marine Park and giving you the chance to find out more about the amazing things that happen in, on, under and next to the water. We’re keen to know what you think and what you’d like to see from the people’s park in the sea so look out for the different ways that you can give your feedback through video, drawing, sharing images or completing our surveys.
