To celebrate the UK’s first ever National Marine Park here in Plymouth Sound, we are opening the doors to our Aquarium for free to thousands of lucky visitors in partnership with all the organisations on the project.

On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd April, you can join us to connect, learn more and have your say about the National Marine Park on your doorstep. This event is for those living in PL1 to PL9 and/or are Plymouth City Council residents.

The purpose of the weekend is to give the people of Plymouth the chance to explore what Plymouth Sound National Marine Park may offer, and to have their say on shaping the park for the future.

What to expect?

Our whole aquarium will be open for you to explore with our Ocean Discovery Rangers on hand throughout the three days, connecting you to the National Marine Park and our Ocean. There will be a whole host of free activities on offer for you to get involved in, including:

  • Fun and inspiring talks, feeds and shows
  • Interactive workshops and games
  • Immersive virtual reality experiences
  • Meet the mermaid sessions
  • Toddler craft and fun
  • Storytelling pop-ups
  • Conservation showcasing

We will also be joined by representatives from the other National Marine Park hubs (Mount Batten Centre, Tinside Lido, Mount Edgecumbe, and Plymouth City Council) for interactive and immersive activities, alongside a selection of businesses and organisations that will be showcasing how they are connected to the National Marine Park.

This has been made possible thanks to an amazing grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Heritage Horizons Awards. Registration is now closed for public, but if you’re a school or business you can click on the below to find out more!

Business Organisations

We are inviting businesses to showcase their work happening within the National Marine Park. We want you to help us inspire local people, other businesses, and communities to take part in Ocean activities, events, citizen science, art and culture, as well as on, in and under the water activities.

We are offering a free 2m x 1m space within the Aquarium for the duration of the 3 days, where you will be free to promote any events, activities, and membership.
