Full time position 37.5 hours over 7 days | Salary is £21,400pa

The Ocean Conservation Trust is a charity with a mission of ‘Connecting us with our Ocean’. We are committed to conserving the marine environment and inspiring others to do the same. The Discovery and Learning Team at the Ocean Conservation Trust is looking to recruit a member of staff to join our Schools Engagement Team at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.

As a Schools Officer specialising in digital engagement, you will work with students of all ages in a cross curricular setting.

Duties will include:

  • Leading on the development of our digital offering for schools, including the use of virtual and augmented reality experiences, block-coding lessons, and online learning.
  • Running a wide range of educational sessions, including classroom-based workshops, Aquarium exhibit tours, stage presentations and large-scale event support.
  • Contributing to our behaviour change programme by promoting Ocean conservation action though fun and engaging experiences.
  • Supporting the administration of school bookings, event planning and other administrative tasks as required.

  • Degree level qualification in marine or environmental science related subject
  • Degree level qualification in digital technology related subject.
  • Formal teaching or mentoring qualification
  • Use of Avantis / ClassVR hardware
  • Use of Oculus Rift hardware
  • Experience with Co-Spaces software
  • Live streaming & scheduling broadcasts
  • Access database design
  • Running environmental education sessions and activities.
  • Designing activities with a formal education outcome
  • Presentation and stage performance
