The Ocean Conservation Trust (OCT) are recruiting for an Engineer at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.  The OCT is an Ocean conservation charity, focussed on habitat restoration and behaviour change, that owns and runs the National Marine Aquarium, one of Plymouth’s top tourist attractions.

Our aquarium in Plymouth includes three large mixed displays of 500,000L, 650,000L and 2,500,000L one of which is the largest native exhibit in the UK.  These huge displays along with the many smaller ones require the ingenuity of a dedicated Engineering team to help keep the livestock healthy.

We are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced engineer with electrical bias to join the Engineering department to focus on the operation and maintenance of Life Support Systems for aquarium livestock and building services.   The right attitude and a capacity for learning are essential, particularly in the diagnosis and repair of system faults.  Training in aquatic systems will be provided.

This is a permanent position working a 3 days on 3 days off shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays.  There are no rota’d night shifts although Duty Engineer responsibility means being on call for some shifts as the Engineering team provide, an out-of-hours emergency response service.
