Summer is fast approaching and we have a lot on for everyone to get involved in! Our opening hours are also changing for summer!

We are quickly approaching summer, our peak period! For the first time we are extending our opening hours both at the beginning and the end of the day.

The new hours are 9:30am to 5:30am, this will come into effect on the 23rd of July and end on the 2nd of September. More time for fish-themed fun!


Aquarium Lates: Ocean Exploration – August 4th, 16+

Join our Ocean Discovery Rangers on a mission to explore the Ocean’s depths and learn what it takes to be a scientist!

We will take a trip through the history of Ocean Exploration, looking at some of the milestones for marine scientists. You will then have the opportunity to be immersed in a deep-sea virtual reality experience as well as taking part in a squid dissection!


Multi-Session Snorkel Safaris – Starting August 13th and continuing for 4 weeks after. 8+

Join our Snorkel Club and explore the National Marine Park over four weeks this August. During each session you will have the perfect oppor-tuna-ty to discover the wonders of the Ocean as we head outside of the Aquarium and explore local UK waters.

This is an fantastic opportunity as you will get the chance to snorkel at Drakes Island, which can’t be done through any other organisation! More info and book now.


Quiet at the Aquarium – August 1st and 29th and other dates, Family Event

A few times a year we open our doors for a special two hour event after hours that allows families and people with autism, dementia and other sensory needs to enjoy our exhibits without the noise and distraction of our daily shows.


National Marine Park x Ocean Conservation Trust, Sea in the Park – Regular events, Free.

Our charity, the Ocean Conservation Trust, will be attending a variety of regular events, titled Sea in The Park, that focuses on connecting communities in Plymouth with the magic of the Ocean. This will be part of the National Marine Park project to help encourage greater prosperity and engagement with our marine environment. Aquarium Boat Trips – Various dates in August.

This year, the NMA is exploring the UK’s first National Marine Park, setting sail on selected dates throughout the year. Our Ocean Discovery Rangers will help you discover our British wildlife, from big to small, as well as the history of Plymouth’s stunning natural harbour. Our boat trips are open to everyone, so why not learn something new with our dedicated team of Ocean conservationists in 2022.

We have ongoing VIP Behind the Scenes tours that happen everyday at the Aquarium! You’ll be able to get a glimpse into the amazing world of animal care and what it takes to keep the UK’s largest aquarium running, as well as seeing areas that aren’t available to the general public!
