Our largest sharks are the Sand Tiger Sharks. Emily and Howie are the girls and Enzo is the only boy. These sharks look fearsome because of their hundreds of sharp teeth; however they are very laid back. They feed on bite-sized fish, squid and crustaceans in the wild and, no, they don't eat the healthy fish in their tank!
These engaging little fish live on reefs in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. They do have a secret, though. All clownfish are born as males and some then change into females in later life! They are often found in pairs living in a stinging anemone. The anemone keeps them safe from predators and, in return, the clownfish keep the anemone clean.
Snorkel, our Loggerhead Turtle, is around 27 years old. She lives here at the National Marine Aquarium because she has poor eyesight, which would prevent her finding jellyfish to eat in the wild. Most Loggerhead Turtles are born in Greece or Florida, but spend their whole lives swimming across the world’s oceans. They have been known to hold their breath for an amazing TEN hours!
