The National Marine Aquarium will be staying open late for visitors not once, but twice this month, when it hosts two special after-hours events for the 20th British Firework Championships.
Offering unrivalled views across Plymouth Sound, families, firework fans and local residents will be able to enjoy the spectacular display from the Aquarium’s private garden* or Horizons Suite.
Taking place on 9th and 10th August, doors will open at 19:00 giving visitors plenty of time to immerse themselves in the Aquarium’s fascinating marine life, before the fireworks kick-off at 21:30. Whatever the weather on the day, the Aquarium will provide a perfect view of the colourful displays, which will see four tonnes of fireworks light up the Plymouth skies.
Held in Plymouth every August and now in its 20th year, the British Firework Championships offer one of Britain’s most spectacular fireworks displays. Organised by The Event Services Association (TESA) and Plymouth City Council, the Championship will see the nation’s best pyrotechnics go head-to-head to see who can create the most innovative and entertaining display.
Victoria Spurdle, Functions and Events Manger at the National Marine Aquarium, said: “The British Firework Championships are a great event for Plymouth, and we’re delighted to be able to open up the doors of the Aquarium for spectators to enjoy this year’s amazing displays once again. With uninterrupted views across Plymouth Sound, visitors can watch the fireworks from either our private garden or Horizons Suite, so whatever the weather, they’ll be able to make the most of the stunning displays.”
Tickets cost £9 for adults and £7 for children. To book, please visit www.national-aquarium.co.uk or call 0844 893 7938.
