Gift Aid is a very simple idea from the taxman which enables National Marine Aquarium to reclaim the tax paid on donations. If instead of paying for a membership you choose to make a donation of the same value then we will give you a free membership in return. If you choose to Gift Aid your donation the taxman will then pay us 28p in the £ on that donation which will be additional funding for our charitable work. This money comes from tax which you have already paid.

We need to ask whether you are a UK taxpayer and pay enough income tax or capital gains tax to cover the amount of tax we will reclaim from the taxman (most of our visitors easily do) and whether or not you want to Gift Aid your donation.

As an independent charity we don’t receive any external funding; every penny we make helps us to run the aquarium and help save marine life and their environment.

By showing your support for the Aquarium you’ll get membership at a massively discounted rate (as advertised prior to September 2008). That’s not all, 10% of what you pay will be put back into the local community to encourage local youngsters to connect with the sea.

So far we have run clubs for Dartmoor HM Prison, Nomony Children’s Centre and we’re working with the Devon & Cornwall Police to educate ‘tombstoners’ to learn to dive properly.
