Here at the National Marine Aquarium, our mission statement is to ‘Drive Marine Conservation through Engagement’. We feel we do this every day in the Aquarium, through every Dive Show, Octofactor and even in the conversations we have with our visitors.
But that mission statement isn’t just about what we do inside of the Aquarium, it’s also about going out to engage with people outside of the building through outreach.
This summer we’re holding three ‘Fun at the Beach’ days. These events mean our amazing Aquarium Hosts go out to the beach and have fun with anyone who cares to join us!
Yesterday’s event was super fun, we even had some of Vospers Nissan come down with us to help out and spread the word about our amazing Nissan Leaf Electric car which Vospers has donated to use for our Outreach.
We had great fun; we rock pooled along the shoreline, finding lots of crabs, anemones and more. And then before we left, with the help of some fantastic helpers, we did a beach clean to try and pick up all the nasty bits of rubbish and plastic that has ended up on the beach and rocks.
Thanks to all that came down and had fun with us, our next Fun at the Beach day is the 30th of August. So why not come on down and meet us at Batten Bay Beach at 10:30 for some rock pooling fun!
