Our main shark tank has been given a ‘Lost at sea’ makeover where a full sized Walrus plane has crashed landed.
Our underwater cameras will give you a new angle on how our Sand Tiger sharks react to their new visitors. The Walrus Seaplane is steeped in local history - on the 18th June 1940, under orders direct from Winston Churchill, a crew of 4 flew from Mount Batten (Plymouth) to rescue a mother and her children trapped in occupied France. The brave crew and plane crossed the channel 20km west of Carantec but were then shot down with all 4 men losing their lives. Walrus planes were flow by the RAF over the Atlantic Ocean so it felt fitting to pay tribute to the crew by placing the plane in the tank where the Walrus saw so much action.
