Here at the National Marine Aquarium we can’t think of anything better than a day out in the city of Plymouth. Whether you head to the city centre for a day of shopping, driving to the moor just past the edge of the city for a day of exploring. Or, our favourite kind of day in Plymouth, a day on the Waterfront by the sea!
Summer is here in Britain’s Ocean City of Plymouth. The sea breeze floating through the air, the sound of the historic Barbican Waterfront hustle and bustle, and the delicious smell of sustainably caught fish and chips hovers from the seafront.
Why not come and visit the city of Plymouth this summer? You can park your car on the Hoe or one of the many carparks around the seafront and Barbican. Catch the new Sutton Harbour Shuttle Ferry from West Pier, just opposite the Mayflower steps. Jump on board the ferry for just £1 per person (£1.50 return) and glide over the marina catching a view of the harbour that very few have seen before. After landing the short ferry ride jump off the ferry at Shepherd’s Wharf and why not head to visit us here at the National Marine Aquarium, or for a spot of lunch at Rockfish Plymouth.
Come and explore the UK’s largest Aquarium, say hello to Friday the Green turtle and his sharky friends. Explore the deep sea with our summer theme ‘Ocean Aliens’ and grab a selfie with our divers during our hugely popular daily 2pm Dive shows.
There is so much to do here at the Aquarium, and once you’ve finished your day with us (and got your free year return pass that you’ll receive on entry) you can grab some tasty fish and chips at Rockfish, and grab the ferry back to the other side for some ice cream and a cider.
What more could you want this summer? We hope to see you soon, and don’t forget if you want to save 10% of your entry price book your tickets in advance HERE.
