Explore the local area this Mother’s Day

8th March 2018

There are so many fantastic opportunities here in Plymouth to celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday.  Read on for a few of our own suggestions.

If the weather is looking good?

You and Mum could take this opportunity to explore our beautiful coastline from the Plymouth Hoe to Sutton Harbour. Hoe park is home to some picturesque scenery and the local landmark, Smeaton’s Tower, which is climbable for a small fee. If a stroll along the coast sates your appetite, head down to one of the many cafés on the Barbican for a coffee or a sweet treat. From Sutton Harbour, there are numerous ferries which head out to the pier and rocky beaches by Mt Batten, the restaurants at Royal William Yard, or further south to Cawsand beach. Perfect for any ocean loving mum!

If  it’s looking a bit rainy?

From Sutton Harbour you’re only a short walk or ferry ride to the other side where you can treat your mum to some delicious and sustainable seafood at Rockfish for lunch.

Best of all, the NMA is just next door! Come into the Aquarium this Mother’s Day and get a free year pass to come back as much as you like. Meet our amazing and serene creatures, some of whom are mums themselves! Be sure to say hello to Kitts the Spotted Eagle Ray in our Atlantic Ocean tank, she’s a proud mum of four! (Some of her pups below).

Whilst watching our amazing creatures you can enjoy food and drink at our own Wave’s Café. Plus, our gift shop is perfect for a sea-themed Mother’s Day present.

We hope you like our Mother’s Day blog, we hope to see you soon.
