Our Atlantic Ocean exhibit is the deepest in the UK and the largest single tank with over 2million litres of water. The tank is home to some of our most iconic residents, including a 2.5m Lemon Shark, 2m+ Sand Tiger Sharks, Nurse Sharks, the only Spotted Eagle Rays in Europe, Sting Rays, Cow Nose Rays, Barracuda, Tarpon, Jacks and many more fabulous animals. A new resident to the take is Friday the Green Turtle!
With this exhibit, you start your journey walking underneath the tank 10.8m down, where our Nurse Sharks love to lurk. As you weave your way through the exhibit, our stunning WWII Walrus Seaplane (life sized replica donated by the RAF) reveals itself. We then travel up towards the surface, to our Demi-tunnel, which is a favourite hang out for the variety of Rays we have. Make sure you take some time to sit and watch here as the Sand Tiger Sharks will make an appearance. Besides; our researchers have proven watching aquaria is very therapeutic, so make the most of the biggest in the UK. Built as an extension to the Aquarium 9 years ago, the tank has had its fair share of the limelight, featuring in a number of BBC and independent natural history documentaries, typically focusing on our amazing sharks.
